One thing I still find amazing is the natural world's ability to still blow me away - even when I think that I've pretty much seen it all.
On this particular morning, I made an easy ascent of the south side of Mount Hood during the pre-dawn hours with a bank of clouds FAR below. Once on top, I enjoyed a wonderful sunrise above the clouds and a perfect "mountain shadow" when looking in the opposite direction of the rising sun. This phenomena is exactly what it sounds like, it's the shadow of the peak cause by the rising (or setting sun).
