MCW Metroliners started to appear with independent operators in early 1990, as former NBC and SBG operators started to dispose of them after an average 5-6 year high-mileage life - at least for those that hadn't been incinerated !

Northern Bus at Anston were one of the early buyers, and their livery provided a refreshing colour change from the monotony of NX white. 899 DXV was formerly B233 XEU, one of a pair acquired from Wessex National. They didn't last particularly long here, and had gone within a year, along with a former Eastern Scottish one.
