Whoever and whatever sort of Mum you are, Mother's Day is celebrated today in Australia and perhaps elsewhere. So this tribute is paid through this special Mum Brushtail Possum eating some apple. This is she who caused all the ruckus yesterday morning and again this morning.
And we also remember and pay tribute to all our Mum's who have now left us. Our love to you all. My wife who was and is a wonderful Mum took this photo, I was too busy supervising everyone!
A Krefft's Glider readies itself to leave its den to begin a night of foraging in the tree canopies for insects, nectar, and sap. Before it leaves the safety of its den, it carefully checks the surrounding area for threats such as Powerful Owls. Once it decides that all is safe, it will typically scamper from its den to the end of one of the taller branches of its home tree and launch itself into the night, gliding up to 50m to land on the trunk of another tree. This process is repeated with astonishing speed and allows the glider to travel great distances quickly and without the risk of predation by ground-dwelling animals.
