Yuko Nagayama-sensei's 33rd Zoom course. The theme was "Drawing something hanging against the wall."
Since it didn't have to be a flower as the motif, I decided to paint something that I had been gazing at for a while. It was this glove-shaped microfibre cloth used for wiping, which looked like a sea anemone. I thought it would be fun to draw the undulations of these lined protrusions with coloured pencils, and I had been admiring it every time I went to the toilet. I think it's been a year since I started gazing at it. But I couldn't bring myself to draw it easily because I thought, "It would be enjoyable to draw, but it might be tedious as well."
Although I'm not entirely confident if this motif is suitable for the open assignment, I drew it because I wanted to. At least it's hanging against the wall, right?
The pink garbage bag is for throwing away diapers (I use it for regular trash), and it has a faint scent of roses. After starting to draw and gazing at the picture a few times, I felt like something was missing. So I decided to incorporate pointillism, which I learned in a previous lesson. The colours I used were reminiscent of confetti.
If I were to give a title to this painting, it would be something like "Great job, thank you! Sparkles ✨." It's like the hardworking cleaning tool appearing at the edge of my field of vision after finishing cleaning and looking around the beautifully tidied surroundings. It's a concept where sparkling confetti-like particles come spilling down at the moment when I think, "Thank you, guys."
The words that stuck with me from this lesson were when Yuko-sensei said, "From the moment you're thinking about what motif to choose, you're already drawing." It's really true, yeah, I'll do my best.
