Built by the Victorian Railways at Newport workshops in 1908, 8A started service on the Gembrook line before also working over the Colac and Walhalla lines before returning to Ferntree Gully and withdrawn in 1955. It was put in a park at Beaumaris in 1970 and then obtained by Puffing Billy returning to service in 1982.
On 23-11-15, 8A is shunting at Belgrave before running a train to Gembrook
