Ermesinde (PT) | 2024 | Medway 4723

I didn't only spend time on the Douro- and Minho railway lines during my trip to Portugal. I also spend some time on the mainline between Porto and Ermesinde. Although I guess this might be considered part of the Minho line as well.

After a very misty morning, the mist started to clear during the end of the morning. But after a short period of clear skies the overcast started to move in (again). Luckily we had planned for make a fairly long train trip this day. However before we boarded our train north, we managed to get some sunny pictures in. Like this one of Medway's ES2007 loco 4723, which headed south with some hoppers. I forgot to wrote down whih train this was or what its load exactly was.

The NMBS EuroSprinter2007 series is generally known as the HLE18 and HLE19 series. The loco's can be found all across the belgian railway network. As Belgium has a large fleet of doubledecker stock, the busiest line across the country are the places you are most likely to encounter them. Brussel Zuid/Midi station is obviously one of those places. There I managed to get the 1825 on photo as it awaited departure to Charleroi with some M6 doubledecker coaches.

Jelgava (LV) | 2022 | LTG Cargo ER20-017

In 2007 LTG ordered 34 ER20 C loco’s. Diffierent from the western european versions of the Eurorunners, this loco has a 6-axle Co’Co’ configuration, houses a lavatory, and most important of all: it’s adapted to the russian wide-gauge. On photo is the ER20-017 as it’s leaving the Latvian city of Jelgava. The train is on it’s way from Ventspils towards the Lithuanian border, where the train would continue within the borders of it’s owner’s operator LTG Cargo.

The Essen-Charleroi intercity service is run by different kinds of stock. From the horrible Desiro units loco hauled trains, or even the class stock units, you can find them on these services. Even when it’s a loco hauled train changes are the consist isn’t of a uniform type. Like this one containing I10, I6 and M4 carriages, being hauled by 2 HLE18 loco’s towards Antwerp, Brussels and finally Charleroi.
