The Alblasserwaard is a country region in Holland in the south-east of the Dutch province ‘Zuid-Holland’. It also forms the southern part of the ‘Groene Hart’ (Green Heart) national landscape. It is a low-lying, thinly populated polder area that is surrounded by rivers and canals. The Alblasserwaard is crossed by ditches, canals and two small rivers: the Alblas and the Giessen. In the lowest, most western point of the Alblasserwaard, you will find the village of Kinderdijk, where 19 authentic, iconic windmills grace the polder landscape…

A lovely white antique style vase or urn with a pretty bouquet of bright yellow Asiatic Lilies and variegated pink white Roses and green leaves. This was shot against a natural outdoor background with nice sunlight and a lovely golden hue.
This was the first image capture of the day on Melody and my May 15, 2014 wedding day. My sister Mary came to my home a couple hours before she, Anita, Melody, and I were to leave for San Francisco City Hall. Chris and Mark were driving there separately. By the time we had left the house, the kitchen table was decorated with champagne glasses for the sparkling cider, my later sister Carol's hand knitted table cloth, a 40 year old wedding cake topper from my sister's china cabinet, and this simple flower arrangement in my mother Louise's favorite vase. In reaction to a suggest, I took the vase with flowers outside to capture this image - the first of my two wedding shots of the day (this and the group photo before we all went our separate ways again). It was the beginning of a most happy and memorable day.
