I wish we could do this every day, but Unka Pappy says you have other duties, so I’ll have to settle for once a month!

STB: Well, Spongey, I see you’re still doing that WTMIAO thing, way too much information at once. But never mind. Let’s get started.

SB: Oooh, just lookit all this stuff!!! Your quarters look like a giant walk in pantry.

STB: And for good reason. Today’s lesson is more like a quiz to see just how much you already know. I have laid out various kinds of items one might need to use in the kitchen at some time or another. You just have to tell me what everything is, and bonus points if you can also tell me how that item might be used.

Stormtrooper Bruce has been on pins and needles all week long waiting to hear the results of the Spring Fling Bake Off. As a rule, he normally ends up tying for 3rd Place, which is OK because the better you place the worse the prize. STB tolerates the 3rd place prizes and usually never claims them, but having just learned the results of this Bake Off, he’s, well, a little upset.

TK-432: Dude! What happened? What’s wrong?

TK-1110: Are you OK? Should we stay or should we go? Is Movie Night still on? Talk to us!

TK-432: Uh oh! This looks familiar! You got the results of the Bake Off, didn't you? Do we even want to know?

TK-1110: Do we need to pack up, go to the deserts of Tatooine, do some target practice? Hit the cantina while we’re there? What?!?

TK-432: For crying out loud! There’s no crying allowed! You’re a Trooper, pull up your big boy boxers and tell us what happened!

For a geologist railway cuttings especially through hard rock are brilliant for creating cross sectional outcrops that create clean surfaces to study the rock detail. Here near Litton Mill on the Monsal Trail is such an outcrop with an information board to explain it.

I had read about the Lower Carboniferous volcanics in the High Peak but have never seen them in outcrop & here the exposure is perfect. The black rocks on the right are basalt lavas that have flowed into water creating shatter breccia at the contact and then solidified under water into classic pillow basalts. The white rocks with red iron staining above are younger limestones. All this happened 330-340 million years ago.

The Monsal Trail is a foot and cycle path that follows the former 1863 Midland Railway Derby to Manchester main line route from Bakewell to Chee Tor near Buxton.
