We usually think of Grackles as dirty birds, but this Red-bellied Grackle in Colombia is rare and endangered. We stopped at a couples home in the Andes mainly to see this fellow. The family found it as a chick after it had been abandoned. They raised it and freed it back to nature after it matured. Now he comes by their home and even flies indoors to visit. He came by the day we visited and we were fortunate to photograph him in their yard. Isn’t he striking? Credit to the nature loving Colombian people.
