Today is the 30th anniversary of a severe hailstorm that ravaged Fort Worth and places to the east and west of the city. The hailstorm, the costliest up to that time, devastated a swath of Fort Worth from west to east which included the downtown area. Nicknamed the Mayfest hailstorm as it hit Trinity Park while the festival was underway, the storm dropped hailstones up to the size of grapefruits. The storm damaged thousands of structures and vehicles. This Sentra staion wagon had its rear window knocked out by the hail.
