St. Michael's Bridge looking at Korenlei and St. Michael's Church, Ghent, Belgium

Excerpt from www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/st-michaels-bridge-7384.html:

St. Michael's Bridge, or Saint-Michielsbrug, is a monumental stone arch bridge. It replaced the previous flat swing bridge over the river Leie in 1909. The bridge is the work of architect Louis Cloquet, who also designed the Old Post Office. The bridge is part of Saint Michael's Street.

Views from the bridge are captivating. To the north one can see the Grass Quai and Wheat Quai with the ominous looking Gravensteen Castle further off. To the east are the three Ghent towers: St Nicholas' Church, the Belfry of Ghent and the St. Bavo's Cathedral. In the southwest side is Saint Michael's Church.

Saint Michael the Arcangel, in full armor and winged, perches on a lamp post.

River Nith Dumfries 7470

River Nith, Dumfries. The river Nith runs through Dumfries (often nick-named Queen of the South) toward the Solway Firth in a southwards direction, splitting the town into East and West. It is spanned by several bridges - this is St Michael's Bridge. Opened in 1927, designed by J B Brodie, and now Category B listed.

St Michael's Bridge and ford, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England

The bridge over the River Ver in St Michael's Street, dates from 1765 and is believed to be the oldest extant bridge in Hertfordshire. It was built by the St. Albans Turnpike Trust at a cost of £280 and is Grade II listed.
According to a contemporary account of the Second Battle of St Albans in 1461, another bridge existed on this site previously (recorded in 1505 as Pons de la Maltemyll - Malt Mill Bridge).
It is thought that the Romans had built a bridge here by the 3rd century AD.
The ford alongside the current bridge, which is known to have existed for 2,000 years, is traditionally believed to be Alban's crossing point on his way to his execution.

From this point eastwards the road becomes Fishpool Street, following the line of the river before turning uphill to the Abbey and town centre.
Westwards, St Michael’s Street has a charming village feel, with a small, important Saxon church and open countryside, remarkably quiet and rural so close to the town.
