The main thoroughfare through Ragusa (old town of Dubrovnik).
This has been a main street since the 13th century, when it was reclaimed from being a marshy channel that separated the town from the mainland.
The road is lined with limestone, and with the years of wear upon it has made it a shiny surface to walk upon.
Taken from the walls of the city. I'm not that tall.
The Stradun, otherwise known as Placa, is the main street in Old Town Dubrovnik. It's about 300 meters in length and paved with polished limestone. Despite its width and length, it can often be packed with tourists as tightly as an NFL stadium on Super Bowl day. The day I took this, one or two of the giant cruise ships had departed, leaving some sanity in the old town.
