The way we were.

Today I found an small film, old scratched slide, from the winter of 1971 in Canada.
I took a picture of this slide with a macro camera and this is the result. No texture, just straight from the slide.

We had just bought a new Austin Mini and we were going for a ride. At that time I was pregnant with my son ♱ Brian.

I have some more to show you..... later

MB Puzzle 4181-11 Those Were The Days - box

Make: MB Puzzle
Serial: 4181-11
Title: Those Were The Days
Series: Good Old Days Puzzle
Pieces: 513 (27 x 19).
Size: 19 7/8 x 13 7/8 in. 50.5 x 35.3 cm.
Date: 1986.
Bar Code: 0 32244 04181 5.
Origin: USA.

Paul Detlefsen 1972.

Built by colour, generally beginning with the lighter and more obvious areas before moving into the darker, greener areas.

The overhanging foliage was expected to be an exercise in frustration, and did not disappoint in that respect. Fortunately the pieces are well fitting so when placed correctly there was no doubt. A large number of semi-interlocking pieces were able to be paired together so those pieces at least went in two at a time.

One piece missing :-(

Bought more jigsaws…

DONE: 868 puzzles (625533 nominal piece count). TO DO: 884 puzzles (1159911 nominal piece count).

Those Were The Days!!

During my working days a large part of the business I was directly involved in was the international forwarding of hi-tech industry and through that I was a Director within the HTFN ... Hi-Tech Forwarders Network.

We had many conferences and this is one of the posters held in Miami, which I had framed. Although travelling to many parts of the world was most interesting it was somewhat exhausting ~ fly overseas, be met and taken to a hotel, then a conference for a few days and then business and then back on a flight and off to another city and or country .... I did that for a good number of years!

Today's We're Here Challenge: Those were the days.

Before Covid hit these pens would have been full of animals (sheep, pigs, cows, chickens)...Those were the days!

As it was we saw a few pigs and goats...sad!

Darek & I got up this morning, had breakfast and headed to the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. We picked up Bob on the way. This was the first fair since Covid hit so it's been 3 years. There wasn't as big a crowd as years gone by and there seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm. We tried to take our traditional Ferris wheel ride, but we couldn't get the ticket kiosk to sell us tickets and there weren't any "real people" ticket sellers so we came home.

I'm glad the fair has returned, but it won't be the same.

25/100 Those Were the Days

Today WAH visiting Those Were the Days
A retake of a photo back in 1990.

I worked as a manager for a telecom company for more years than I care to remember. This was me back in 1990 being a super hero and delivering a briefing to other managers in some rah rah way before attending a conference where I had to deliver it all over again. We certainly embraced the work hard play hard culture. They were enjoyable days.

Mary Hopkins released Those Were the Days back in 1968. Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, who put a new English lyric to the Russian romance song "Дорогой длинною" (literally "By the long road"), composed by Boris Fomin (1900–1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevsky. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism. It also deals with tavern activities, which include drinking, singing and dancing.
I must admit I really disliked this song and turned off the radio when it came on.

Digitalmania is featuring work this week inspired by Beth Conklin.

Beth Conklin is a photographer and digital artist from Birmingham, Alabama. Most of her work involves vintage photographs – recycled memories and faces and places that she brings together with textures and “modern” photographs to create dark and beautiful dreamscapes.

Château Feodal de Beynac

Souvenirs du France jour 11
And... we have reached the Castle!

The Château de Beynac is a castle situated in the commune of Beynac-et-Cazenac, in the Dordogne département of France. The castle is one of the best-preserved and best known in the region.

This Middle Ages construction, with its austere appearance, is perched on top of a limestone cliff, dominating the town and the north bank of the Dordogne.

Picturesque streets, nearly too narrow for a car,
but lovely to walk through and to see how people live!

Château de Cheverny

Souvenirs du France jour 7

The Château de Cheverny is a French Loire castle located in Sologne, in the commune of Cheverny, in the department of Loir-et-Cher and the Centre-Val de Loire region.
