I have just returned from a short though very eventful stay in the two Baltic states nearest to us - Lithuania and Latvia.
I can't say I am very satisfied with what I have seen, but maybe I have set my expectations too high?
One of the goals for the visit in Rīga, where I have spent a whole day, was to photograph the local tram network. by travelling on it, i quickly searched up spots and took some pictures.
I witnessed this spot for the very first time in beautiful sunlight, thinking I could maybe snap a picture of a tram in such beautiful conditions here too. Sadly, they only ran ever 30 minutes and the sun managed to disappear.
To make up for it, I was presented with a little scene. Three children ran out of the blocks of flats located nearby, climbed the tram right of way and then ran towards the park, located opposite of their flats. In doing so, they slipped and fell from the tracks towards the relatively deep snow layer.
In the background is the Tatra tram T6B5SU or T3MR (as they are designated locally, from what I recall, due to a moderniastion), numbered #35130, prod. 1989, while running as line 2 from Stacijas laukums to Tapešu iela. It has just departed from the stop A.Grīna bulvāris. The tram belongs of course to the RP SIA Rīgas satiksme - the public transport organiser in the city of Rīga.
