The 8th of May and winter still doesn't want to leave. Hopefully we will have 3 full months this year with no snow. That's a long shot as it only leaves June, July and August. August is always iffy as it normally snows towards the end of the month.

During our short stay in Alaska, some of the most impressive views we encountered were while driving from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Throughout the journey, we matched the speed of an approaching storm, and in the fleeting moments when the clouds opened up, revealing the mountains, I captured stunning images filled with light and drama. I particularly enjoyed using the telephoto range to focus on the mountain peaks that received the best light.

A gate to a private dirt road to a long abandoned farmhouse sits in a field covered in snow. There is still some farm equipment down at the house, hence this high security deterrent.

Climbed in fantastic winter conditions in 2018 with Martin Moran. It was on one of Martin's courses that I discovered the magic of Scotland's mountains in winter, way back in 2012. Tragically, Martin died in 2019, leading an expedition in the Indian Himalayas.
