Interestingly, the store had received new, more modern cash registers at some stations a few months prior to my visit. At the time, that made me think that this store was not just hanging on, but was clearly still a going concern, if they were investing in new point of sale equipment. The thought was that they wouldn’t invest in new point of sale equipment if they were planning to shutter the place. This would end up not being the case.
