Whatcom Skagit Crane Service (Bellingham), repairing storm damage at oil refinery, 100 ton Link Belt, Ferndale Washington
During the turnaround just prior to this photo a large leaking and corroded vessel containing hydrofluoric acid made this one of my least favorable work experiences with a crane. The 12 hour shifts 7 days a week that lasted for a couple of months was mentally exhausting. I was never so happy that the crane had wheels as when this job eventually finished and we could drive out the gate and move onto something new.

I spent a handful of years working for Whatcom Skagit Crane Service as a union crane operator, the company owned by the man below, Don Ryan. I came away from the job with more than a handful of good memories, Don infused in many of those. My best to Don's family.
