It was nice to see this rare White-winged Dove in Vancouver a few days ago. It is my personal second sighting of this species in the Vancouver area and BC's 25th record.
Captured this rarity at the East Vancouver backyard identified in the RBA. Given the overcast sky and poor lighting was really happy with the quality of this image, although I did add some sharpening, and took a little off the exposure of my RAW image, to get this final product. Listening to the conversation of the other birders there, heard one say that the last time this bird was sighted in the area was 8 years ago. No wonder everyone was so excited. Apparently the home range of the dove is the southern states close to Mexico, and Mexico itself.
