Our first good sprinkle (1/4") of the season and the waterfall foamed up.

No clue why.

It was filled with city tap water years ago and is now kept topped off automagically also via tap water.

It's clean enough to support a healthy collection of damselfly nymphs and various volunteer mosses.

Dad bought this in Frankfurt, Germany in 1955 - according to the note Mom wrote on the back. A bit before my time!

It ultimately ended up in my room, on the wall, where dad would wind it up and pull the cord to play it as he wished me good night.

Alas, it no longer works. One of these days I'm going to take it to the Old Clock repairman to see if he can make it play once again.
