This is the mine that is directly on the other side of that metal shack with the compressor in it. I had speculated that the compressor supplied fresh air in the mine as well as running the miner's jack drills. Here, you can see a squirrel cage box fan with air ducts attached. It appears this was used for fresh air. Perhaps the diesel motor provided the needed electricity to run that fan.
We explored this mine to its end, because, you know, a mine is a terrible thing to waste.
This is the rig inside the shed shown in the previous photo. The big diesel engine powers a compressor which supplied air to the minor's jack drill and, possibly, pumped fresh air into the mine as well.
I bet it was noisy in there!
