On 23 June 1962 Castle 7011 Banbury Castle is stabled on its home shed Worcester (85A). Allocated to Worcester in December 1960, it moved to Reading (81D) for a year before moving back to Worcester in January 1964. In June of that year it moved to Oxley to work the Summer Saturday extras to the South Coast via Basingstoke and the Southwest via Bristol. The end came in February 1965 when all the "Midland" Castles allocated to Tyseley and Oxley were taken out of service. The short journey to Cashmores Great Bridge awaited.

Stored in the scrapline at Worcester Shed (85A) is Castle 7001 Sir James Milne on 15 March 1964. The loco had been allocated to Old Oak Common (81A) from July 1953 until August 1961 when it transferred to Wolverhampton Stafford Road (84A). When that shed closed the loco moved to nearby Oxley (2B) and was immediately withdrawn. The loco was cut up at Cohens Morriston. 7001 had the honour of hauling the last week of the Cornishman from Bristol Temple Meads to Wolverhampton in September 1962, before the train was re-routed to Sheffield and dieselised.
