Great excitement!! I've wanted to see a larva for many years. I've seen adults in USA and Spain and knew there are a couple of colonies in UK. A visit to Holkham NNR gave me the opportunity and tho I went with eyes peeled for larval pits, I never really expected to find any. The reserve is huge, so I count myself really lucky. Ok, I had to uncover one larva, since they are buried in their pit, but a few photos (with point and shoot as I was dogwalking) and back into the pit where it simply reburied itself, no problems, so I have little regret disturbing it. Wow, what a thrill.
