i like this shot because of the arrows.
this was taken several years ago when the "motel" sign on top of torches still existed.

back in 2007 the color tv sign was still intact on top of the Welcome Traveler Motel sign and the property was well maintained.
Looked like it was apartments with trees and little barbecues.
just a few years later it was trashed with dump trucks, trash bins, crap cars.
Makes that entry into barstow on Old Highway 58 look like shite.
CLEAN IT UP! and no suspicious fires, ok?
sometimes it takes me years to actually stop and photograph an unusual sign. HA!
B&B Plumbing & RV on old highway 58.
this business seems to have been established in 2001.
i want to go inside, it looks so interesting.
the desert landscape is dry. only things i saw blooming was the occasional beavertail cactus and a non-native radish out in hinkley.

I finally got to drive on Route 66 in California, specifically in a place called Barstow. It's a sleepy, little run down town, the kind where you would expect to see Jack Karouac and Neal Cassady step out of a 1940 Plymouth, and into a beat shack filled to the brim with Buddhists and jazz musicians. I made this infrared image at the Route 66 Motel on Main Street, a thoroughfare long on malt liquor and short on half and half. Coffee was difficult the next morning, but by 10:00 AM we were On The Road, bopping eastward to Arizona and an adventure in Sedona.
