37418 is a British Rail Class 37 diesel-electric locomotive built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry in October 1965, originally numbered D6918 and later renumbered 37218 under the TOPS system. It was used on mixed-traffic duties across the UK before being refurbished in the mid-1980s into Class 37/4, gaining the number 37418 and receiving Electric Train Heating (ETH) equipment to haul passenger services, particularly in Scotland and Wales. Over the years, it has served various operators and seen a variety of liveries, continuing to be a popular locomotive among enthusiasts due to its distinctive sound and enduring service.
