Funfacts Three and Four: Up top are vertical cliffs of Wingate Sandstone of the Glen Canyon Group, formed ~206.7 to ~199.8 million years ago in the Mesozoic era, during the Rhaetian age of the Late Triassic epoch and the Hettangian age of the Early Jurassic epoch. Below that are diagonal cliffs of the Chinle Formation, formed ~237 to ~206.7 million years ago, during the Carnian, Norian, and Rhaetian ages of the Late Triassic epoch.
