In downtown Battle Creek, Michigan, on March 31st, 2024, was a datestone at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (built 1876-1877; designed by Mortimer Smith; trimmed in Berea sandstone; a "contributing property" in the Van Buren Street Historic District, 96000367 on the National Register of Historic Places) at the intersection of Capital Avenue NE and West Van Buren Street.
Berea Sandstone, quarried in Ohio, was formed during the Famennian stage (~372.2 to ~358.9 million years ago) of the Devonian period of the Paleozoic era.
