This fabulous view of the medieval Lincoln Cathedral was taken just before Christmas 2024 when Lincoln was covered in fog. The cathedral was floodlit for Christmas and the scene felt like something out of the Second World War!

Picture the scene, it's Christmas 1965. My mum had taken me to see Father Christmas! at John Lewis department store in Manchester, England.
This photo was taken just prior to me throwing a tantrum.
You see the store thought it was a good idea to feature a toy for the photo, which in this case was Yogi Bear. A popular cartoon character at the time.
This appeared to be a thoughtful gesture. However, it wasn't a gift and was taken away from me afterwards.
A Father Christmas that gave you a present and took it away wasn't my idea of the Christmas spirit, so I expressed my dissatisfaction in the only way that a one year, five month old child could and should do.

Christmas Day 2024: a crazy, mild 2C temperature (feels like -1C). Sure beats -20C's and -30C's. Sunny, blue sky, snow on the ground, and almost doesn't seem like winter.
For many people, Christmas is a very difficult time, for various reasons. My thoughts are with them and, as always, with those who for one reason or another will spend Christmas alone. To those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, I hope the holiday days will be happy ones for you, anyway. If you will be on the road, please don't drink and drive!
According to the Weather Network, 56% of Calgary's Christmases are white. "An official white Christmas occurs when observers measure at least 2 cm of snow on the ground at 7 a.m. on Dec. 25." We have lots of snow on the ground, though it has been slowly melting in places, such as sidewalks.
Two days ago, around 2:15 am, the light on my outside wall suddenly turned on. I hadn't noticed any cars driving by, which could have triggered the light. Looked through an upstairs window into the darkness to check that there was no one lurking around, and what did I see? A set of beautiful antlers belonging to a buck that was walking along the sidewalk - not sure if it was a White-tailed or a Mule Deer. Not Reindeer, for sure, lol.
