Arco de Cuchilleros (Arch of the Cutlers)
Origin of its name is in the cale de Cuchilleros (Cutler Street) where the workshops of the cutlers' guild were located, which in turn supplied their products to the butchers guild concentrated inside and around the Plaza Mayor. Now mainly cafes, and restaurants. Except for few traditional businesses.
Now a shout out to a brilliant family business of 5 generations La Favorita Casa Enguita. The have the best selection of hats, caps, and scarves. Every time in Madrid a visit is made to kindest proprietors at the North West corner of the Plaza in the gallery, you can't go wrong....
_______________
The behaviour of the Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) in open spaces is very characteristic. Close approaches without camouflage are rare (like the Grey Plover) and the warning to the rest of the waders on the rock platform through the alarm call is assured.
For me it is time for flights, fortunately it has rained enough in the marsh and my favourite places are not accessible, we will see what can be done this autumn/winter and what opportunities the weather and storms give me on the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
