231 River Maigue propels the 0630 Cork - Dublin Heuston non-stop GAA spl for the 2009 All Ireland Football Final. This was one of numerous specials the operated from Cork & Kerry for the final.
On this date, Limerick Junction was still controlled by the signal boxes and semaphore signals.

In a surprising turn of events, Alstom built 2751 railcar 2751 was hauled form Cork to Limerick to be reactivated as a "super shunter", initially to be based in Laois Traincare Depot. It was hauled up by 2600-class railcars 2616+2605, as the 1235 Cork - Limerick
Unfortunately things did not work out as planned, and 2751 was hauled back to Cork on 23 August 2024.
