A beautiful late April Spring Day at Broughtons Wildlife Education Area. It had only been a week since my last visit to sample the progress of spring but in that time the trees had almost completed turning out their spring leaves making the whole landscape a very different place than the week before

These shy beauties are hidden beneath an umbrella of green leaves. The fruit is edible.

At first I thought this was a large mayapple bush, but I am not certain of that now. In The Matthews Nature Preserve near Toney, Alabama.
