In August 2023 I got Betty Mouridsen's embroidery pieces and different drawings and patterns. Some of you might remember the embellished nightgown.
Today the focus is on the drawings and patterning. All is tucked away again in a pocket but you can see the drawings in the collage.

The two pages of today are about colour and patterning. I'm a huge fan of the colours used by Johan Bonde.
For this page two small samples were embroidered in cross-stitch on paper.

Two cards with photographs of his work are now living in this pocket with his monogram.

The two pages that were made yesterday are about texture.
In 2022 I got a stack of old linen towels from a friend. These towels were used by her grandmother many years ago. All the towels had a different weaving pattern.
The initials of the grandmother were AMB.

Some of you have seen these towels before because they were used to make the book for the Unknown maker.

Last night I stitched 3 monograms. Monograms were used on Als as a means of identifying textiles.

The lettering I got out a book from Augusta Abramsson, it was published in 1922.

Three young and good looking girls got a large piece of lace because they wanted to be looking smart.

This embroidery technique called Baldyring was popular in Denmark from 1830 to 1850. The old version was done with cloth and a lot smaller. My version is totally made out of paper and thread. I made it larger because my cutting skills were unable to make it smaller.

I made a pocket of this embroidered piece of paper. In the pocket is a small story from the 1920´s which describes a mother/daughter problem.

All the materials used were found at a fleamarket or in a thrift store.

An old photograph is now living in a small pocket of lace.

The paper Baldyring piece is the opposite page. Baldyring could have been on her apron.

Finally I started working in this ledger. This is a small, 21 x 17 cm, old photo-album which I found in a thrift store.

In this ledger I challenge myself to build a bridge between the skills from the days gone by and my skills.

The old linen bag is embellished with a large piece of lace.
