Dubai Flower Show (Get Pushed Round 58)

This picture is the result of my push from Sue, aka Green Dinosaur in Round 58 of the Get Pushed group:

"You have been asked to design a Poster to go on a roadside billboard advertising a flower show.

You can decide where and when! I'd like something written on the image, maybe date and venue...

Otherwise, free choice."

The picture is made up out of 4 pictures shot especially for this challenge with my Fujifilm X100T and 1 from the archives shot with a Canon SLR...

Thanks for the push Sue, you really got me working for this one as I did not think the poster by itself was enough.

Get Pushed Round 58

This one is way late, so sorry!

@melbaczuc challenged me to do a food shot. Since I don't often cook at home, I took myself to the veggie isle and took some shots there. Hope this is okay with her!

Get Pushed Challenge 58

This is my take on my Get Pushed challenge from Marianna. She is a brilliant photographer and a graphic designer.

This was Marianna's challenge:

"So, I will give you a challenge worthy of your skills: tell me a story in a diptych or triptych. The images you choose to show side by side have to relate to each other and say more together than each one would on its own. For example it could be a sequence of events, as in "before" and "after", or anything that needs a second shot to tell its story".

What more could relate to each other than my mother and my children... :) Each of us have our own story yet we are all so different.. Perfect sequence of events.. I would say.. I love them all so very much.. My children are my world.. sometimes I feel they are the parents and I, their child.. They keep me so grounded.. My mother, no words can describe her. She is generous and loving and thoughtful and all the good things that are in this world, she is all rolled in one..

So Marianna, I do hope you like my take to your challenge.. My mum loved having her pictures taken.. If you ever need a model, you will not find a more willing one than her!! :)

Thanks again for the push.. It took a lot of thinking but finally it all came together..

What I got for Christmas by a100tim

What I got for Christmas

This is something I did want for Christmas.
I was going to say what it was but decided to let everyone guess.
I do know a few of my contacts will know but not all.

Snowflake by a100tim

Snowflake

We went to some friends house on Christmas eve. I noticed this snowflake ornament on their tree and thought that would make a nice photo for the scavenger hunt. Since we don’t see real snow here in Phoenix this is the next best thing. Also our friend Dianne told me this snowflake was made of salt from the great salt lake in Utah. She bought it several years ago while on a trip there. So I guess it’s a salty snowflake.

Small Christmas Tree by a100tim

Small Christmas Tree

I was unsure as to use this photo as a challenge Christmas Tree or as the Sorrowful Christmas Tree.
I chose to use it as the Challenge small tree item. I think I’ll find something more sorrowful later this month.
This is what we put up at work. It’s pretty puny for a Christmas tree I think, but our lobby is pretty small so I guess it’s all we have room for.
I remember last year we had a bigger one. Or maybe I just forgot. You know how when you were younger everything always looked bigger.

Wrapped Up by a100tim

Wrapped Up

Every year we have an in-house Christmas party and White Elephant gift exchange.
Today is the day and these are the wrapped gifts so far. We still have about two hours so this pile might grow.
I have been lucky in that past years to wind up with something useful, or drinkable.
I’ll post what I ended up with later.

Dashing Thru The Mall by a100tim

Dashing Thru The Mall

Dashing thru the Mall.
With a credit card in my hand.
Over our limit we go.
Crying all the way.

Yes it’s that time of year when we all spend too much money.
Today I stopped by the mall and was surprised it wasn’t that busy.
Maybe this year people are being tight with their money.

A Gear by a100tim

A Gear

Lucky day at the Mall.
I would have never thought I’d find this item at the Santa display but here it was. A gear. Part of Santa’s workshop.
I guess every professional workshop has gears.

Red and Green by a100tim

Red and Green

In Phoenix we have Red and Green all year round.
Bougainville grows year round. They are a dirty, thorny, plant.
But they do look nice. If you want year round color, plant them in your yard.
But be prepared to clean up the flowers.
Don’t know how they would hold up in cold climates though.
I don’t remember seeing these when I lived in PA.

Fresh Start by a100tim

Fresh Start

I suppose that several people will be posting this item Fresh Start on New Years.
Truthfully I was thinking that way. But saying things like I’ll get a fresh start losing weight, or learning Photo Shop, or not eating at McDonalds any more, probably won’t happen.
So I am getting a fresh start on a new book.
This is page one of the new Steven King book Revival. According to reviews a scary book.
I’ll let you know in a few weeks.

Christmas Tree #1

The first of my Christmas tree challenge photos.
This one was spotted in Lowes also. Un decorated fake tree.
Too expensive for me. We have one that is several years old.
Buy after Christmas when they go on sale.
