Operated for Vietnam Airlines by Regionair & registered in the Seychelles.
First flown in Feb-95 with the Boeing test registration N1785B, this aircraft was originally ordered by General Electric Capital (later merged with Guinness Peat to form GECAS) for lease to Continental Airlines with the allocated registration N48901. Continental cancelled the order and the aircraft was stored at Everett, WA, USA.
It was delivered to General Electric Capital as EI-CMD in Aug-95 and remained in storage. It was transferred to General Electric Technical Services in Dec-95 and was leased to Vietnam Airlines (operated by Regionair) as S7-RGV in Jan-96.
It was transferred back to Vietnam Airlines as VN-A762 in Jan-01. The aircraft was returned to GECAS Technical Services in Nov-04 and was immediately leased to First Choice Airways (UK) as G-OOBK.
In May-08, First Choice's owners, First Choice Holidays, was merged into the TUI Group and First Choice Airways was merged into Thomson Airways in Nov-08. It was fitted with 'blended winglets' in Dec-09.
The aircraft was badly damaged during a hard landing at Bristol (UK) in Oct-10, it was repaired and returned to service (see note below). It remained in full First Choice livery as it was due to return to the lessor in early 2011.
However, due to the delay in the delivery of Thomson's Boeing 787-8's, the aircraft was retained and returned to the lessor in Jan-14. It was stored at Shannon (Ireland) until May-14 when it was re-registered N838TM and ferried to Marana, AZ, USA for further storage.
It was leased to Blue Panorama Airlines (Italy) as EI-CMD in Aug-14 and returned to the lessor in Jun-18. It was re-registered N739DH in Jul-18 and was stored at Lourdes, France prior to full freighter conversion at Singapore-Paya Lebar in Nov-18.
The aircraft was delivered to DHL Airways in Dec-18 and leased to Kalitta Air (USA) for operations on behalf of DHL. In Jun-22 it was returned to DHL and transferred to DHL Airways UK as G-DHLM. Current, updated 18-Sep-22.
Note: The aircraft made a very hard landing at Bristol (UK) on 03-Oct-10, causing severe damage to the upper fuselage with rippling above the flight deck. It was moved to a hangar at Bristol on 10-Nov-10 for an 'in depth' survey by Boeing engineers, the decision was made to repair the aircraft and work proceeded 24 hours a day. It was completed on 07-Dec-10 and returned to service.
