2025 - Vancouver - Gore Avenue - Sidewalk Siesta by Stand by Ukraine

2025 - Vancouver - Gore Avenue - Sidewalk Siesta

This is the last post until early June.

We are leaving today for Argentina - to eat lots of Bife de lomo, drink lots of Malbec in Buenos Aires and ride the "Train to the Clouds" out of Salta.

No rant about Vancouver's Downtown Eastside but here lays another illicit drug user casualty.

I walk Gore Avenue most days to shop at Sunrise Market and Gore is rife with drug users, most huddled at the side of a building or at least at the edge of the sidewalk.

This male was prone directly across the walkway so either step over him or detour onto the road.

See you all in June. Happy shooting.

IMO they are out on steroids this spring as they are so abundant and rich in colour.

These shrubs are on the side of the seawall pathway under the Granville Street bridge.

Atlixco's floral clock sits at the upper end of the 87 step Escalera Ancha (Wide Staircase).

A mural on the steps depicts the Chinese Atlixquense and a standing charro, characters from the Huey Atlixcáyotl Festival, a cultural heritage festival of the state of Puebla.

20 December, 1965, the first Atlixcayotl Festival was held in this stairway, which would become, over the years, the largest festival in the State of Puebla, bringing together its ethnographic regions.

In 2020 this mural was painted on the 12 meters wide and 68 meters long steps.

The mural is of the Charro de a Pie and the China Atlixquense; Xóchitl and Tonatiuh, the representative couple of the traditional Huey Atlixcáyotl Festival and the Calabaceo Dance.

Full of color and large in size, this work was created by four local artists, headed by Juan Manuel Martínez Caltenco.

And this is the end of this visit to Atlixco.
