Pair of Silver Binoculars, belonging to King of Italy Umberto I of Savoy, specially made around 1880 by one of the most prestigious opticians of that time, namely Ugo Paolo Zigliara (with a laboratory in Genoa - active since 1876 in via Carlo Felice 52) who also produced, among other things, the glasses of the maestro Giacomo Puccini today preserved at his House Museum located in Viale Giacomo Puccini, 266 in Torre del Lago Puccini (LU).
The body of the larger binoculars is made up of two elegantly chiseled and finely engraved silver tubes: each of them bears the personal monogram of King Umberto I of Savoy while, on each of the extractable rain tubes, there is the armorial of the House of Savoy masterfully embossed and detailed with the most minute details.
For the smaller version, for obvious reasons of space, only the Savoy Crown was made on both eyepiece tubes, circumscribed within a floral garland.
Only the case of the smaller binoculars is present, which, on the lid, features the monogram in silver and enamel of King Umberto I of Savoy, while inside, positioned in the center, there is a small Royal Savoy crown.
The binoculars are in excellent condition, the view is excellent and the focusing mechanisms work perfectly.
