The helmet of three-time Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna, on display at F1 - The Exhibition in Toronto.
The 34 year old Brazilian driver was killed at the San Marino Grand Prix, a weekend full of tragedies, 31 years ago today.
During the Friday practice session, Jordan driver Rubens Barrichello suffered a horrific crash as he hit a curb travelling at 140 miles per hour, launching his car into a barrier. The next day while qualifying Austrian Roland Ratzenberger was killed as his Simtek-Ford hit a concrete retaining wall, he was killed instantly.
On Sunday, the day of the race, Senna was quoted as saying: 'I'm not optimistic about this race at all'. Seven laps into the race, he too crashed and was killed, thus ending the weekend that changed Formula One forever.

He retired from racing at the end of the 1958 season after been greatly affected by the death of his friend and Ferrari team mate Peter Collins, killed at that year's German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.
Hawthorn lost his life in a road accident on the A3 Guilford bypass on January 22, 1959, less than a year following his retirement.
