The Orion Nebula (M42) is a bright, colourful region of gas and dust located about 1,344 light-years away in the Orion constellation. It’s one of the closest and most active star-forming regions to Earth. Visible to the naked eye, it appears as a fuzzy patch below Orion’s Belt. At its heart is the Trapezium Cluster, a group of young stars that light up the surrounding nebula.
