Mountain Paradise Along the Blue Ridge Parkway

While at a roadside pullout along the Blue Ridge Parkway with a view looking to the northwest to ridges and peaks of the Northern Blue Ridge. This is at Bald Mountain Overlook with Knob of Rocks, Bare Mountain, and Cellar Mountain being the more prominent points of interest present (according to the PeakVisor app on my iPhone).

Crater Flat, NV

Crater Flat is a flat in the Amargosa Desert in Nye County, western Nevada. The flat lies between Yucca Mountain on the east and the Bare Mountains to the west. The south end of the flat borders the Amargosa Valley.

Crater Flat contains five isolated volcanic cones including Black Cone, a basaltic scoria cone. The Lathrop Wells volcanic center lies on the southern margin of the flat just north of US Route 95. The Crater Flat cones vary in age from 1.5 million years for the northern cones to around 80 thousand years for the Lathrop Wells center. The area is part of the Southwest Nevada volcanic field

As near as I can determine the mountains in the background L to R may be Burnt Mountain, Bare Mountain, Butcher Mountain and Crow Mountain as these are the 4 main mountains able to be viewed south from the Fishtail, Montana area.
Any correction welcomed.
The shot was taken somewhere along Grove Creek Road on the way to the Tippet Rise Art Centre in the Stillwater River Valley near Fishtail, Montana, USA. I was unable to accurately geolocate it on Flickr Maps.

This shot was taken in 2018 on a trip through western USA.
The next set of shots I'll post will focus on the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Byway, two of the USA's most scenic and high altitude highways. Both highways are notable for their preponderance of hairpin bends, or as they are called in the USA, switchbacks.

I've been away from posting to Flickr for a month while travelling in South Australia and then through the Southern Highlands and Central Western NSW during Easter but as from 14th April 2021 I'm back on deck.
