A creek no more: 28 October

More like a raging torrent. I have had to go a different way to my water aerobics class as the major road out of my suburb is closed westbound due to flooding. We had more than 34mm yesterday and probably similar already today. This creek is still in it's banks and hopefully will continue to be ok. I haven't ever seen it above the bridge and would be very worried if that happened. I will post a video of the creek as well.
I would love to go for a drive to some of the other areas but it would be a bit foolhardy in the constant rain.
All the best to those people battling floods throughout Victoria and Melbourne.
On a more sombre note it is the 7th anniversary of my mother's death. I went to say hi to her on my recent NZ trip.

Big bend

Part of the Darling River about 7 kms upstream from Wilcannia. The channel was already full enough for water to inundate adjoining low-lying parts of the flood plain, but the flood peak was still about two weeks away when this picture was taken.

Dry, now wet III

Another diptych illustrating the impact of the La Niña "Big Wet". This view shows the Darling River at Wilcannia in far western NSW, Australia, about 100 kms upstream from Lake Menindee.

Bridging flood waters

The Menindee Weir and rail bridge where the Broken Hill-Sydney railway line skirts Menindee Lake and crosses the regulated channel connecting the lake to other lake storages upstream. High water levels persist following widespread La Niña rains and Darling River flood flows during 2022. NSW Far West.
