The Flickr Butterly Image Generatr

After a grey morning the sun came out in the afternoon and I visited my local reserve.
I had hoped that I might see a green hairstreak. The area that has been really good for them in recent years was totally overgrown and I couldn't even get to the actual place I usually saw them. I didn't see any elsewhere either but it may be too early.
These were by far the most numerous species seen. I also saw quite a few speckled woods and peacocks and (though not a single one stopping) some orange tips.

Sometimes you need to be creative in Hawaii to grow vegetables. I had limited lunch growing cabbage. They were getting eaten by the caterpillar of a particular butterfly. So we took one of our planting bead which had fencing on the four sides. We covered the top and sides with mosquito netting and put a cross of wire across the middle to keep it from sagging. We grew the cabbages from seeds, where they never had to be exposed to the butterflies. They grew perfectly and we are close to harvesting them.
