Visitors could enter Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island in two different ways: on land via the Torii gate on the shoreline now typically used by tourists; or via the vermilion Torii 'floating' gate in the sea. At low tide both the shrine and the latter gate emerge completely from the sea allowing access on foot. Lines of visitors can be seen along the shore pathways.
Portwrinkle is a small coastal village in south-east Cornwall. It is at the western end of Whitsand Bay. It was traditionally a fishing village and the old 17th century walls of the pilchard cellars are still standing, although they have been incorporated into housing. The village has a harbour, and two beaches are accessible from it.
