Beneath wood board in grassy field, within desert agricultural area surrounded by fields. Many individuals have been observed on the nearby house, but this is the first individual I've observed on the ground.

Forest Gecko - Mokopirirakau granulatus
Another photographer spotted this gecko basking. I could not get an angle for a dorsal view at all, but I *think* it is this species, based on many good images on iNaturalist and a couple of printed references. Fingers crossed.
