We are enjoying a wonderful and extended autumn in southern Yukon this year. Today, it was a balmy 17 degrees C, which is just about perfect hiking weather--warm and comfortable, but not hot, not cold and not muggy. If this was a fairy tale, we'd be sampling the bowl of porridge that was just right.
In any event, I had my trusty old Olympus E-M1 slung over my shoulder, which was a good thing considering the amazing golden grasses and the wonderful late afternoon light as my wife and I hiked around little Long Lake. Take this photo for instance. The sunlight was sneaking past the big old spruce trees on the point to the centre left and dappling the golden grasses with magic. I had a circular polarizing filter with me, but other than a slight adjustment to that, it was basically just focus and shoot. The keen eyed among you will note, however, that my idyllic landscape image contains an interloper, my little dog, Boots. She has an uncanny ability to sneak into my photos despite my best efforts.
Photo taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro handheld. I also employed a circular polarizing filter by Nisi to remove some of the strong reflections, and add a little clarity to the brilliant golden grass.
