We were blessed with a truly magnificent sunset yesterday here in Tōkyō.
Made this from the landing outside our front door. We're on the 8th floor. Basically looking due west. You can just see the southern slope of Mount Fuji between the two tallest buildings.

Three frames stitched.
I was down in Okinawa earlier this year, to film a new episode of the show I present for NHKWorld here in Japan.
This young lady was one of the newest apprentices to start work at the restoration project for Shuri-jō castle.

From a trip to Nikko in 2017. I love walking up through Toshogu shrine all the way up the staircases and into the forest. You really feel the way the buildings are a part of the natural landscape.

There's a 2016 edit of this shot deep in the photostream. I think. But during the pandemic I've been doing re-edits of some old shots and this begs posting again.
This is the view south from the roof of our apartment block in Ōmori, Tokyo.
Keikyu Train line, the main Dai-Ichi Keihin Road (Route 15) that runs down to Yokohama and beyond. Quite a scene, Super vibrant view.

Was great to shoot at this wonderful location back in February of 2021.
I've been a fan of Kazuyo Sejima's building since it first went up, which is not so long ago. And it reminds me a little of the McLaren HQ in the UK.
The curves are wonderful and the car fitted great into the scene.
The security guard in the background, in that little wedge of light, was the cherry on the cake really. Adds wonderful depth and scale.

Used to do a lot of shooting with Masako and then she moved down to Kyushu. So, towards the end of 2017, it was really nice to see her again in Tokyo. And so happy she made a little time to come along to the studio and make some photos with me.
This was a dress she brought with her. But we decided her wearing it back to front might be fun...
