At first—and still somewhat now—I was hesitant about using an F4 zoom, since it feels quite slow for a prime shooter like me. Zooms have always seemed a bit boring and lazy, but sometimes they really are the most practical tools for the job. This lens is hefty in size, but it delivers solid image quality and offers decent background separation, which is useful for portrait and fashion work.

Some birds build nests. This Mute Swan builds a fortress. Perfectly centered on a pile of reed architecture that puts most architects to shame, she’s in full nest-mode: majestic, slightly paranoid, and very committed. She’s not just incubating eggs — she’s holding court. Every shift of that elegant neck says, “Yes, this is my moat. No, you may not approach.” It’s less “home sweet home” and more “you shall not pass.”
Some say birds don’t contemplate the nature of existence. This White Wagtail would disagree. Caught mid-stare at a particularly lichen-heavy rock, it appears to be either pondering the meaning of life or just deciding whether the moss looks edible. Tail flick: paused. Inner monologue: active. This is what happens when a hyperactive insect-chaser hits a philosophical wall… literally.
