Rathaus Pirna

HWW

The town hall was first documented in 1386 and served primarily as a store for bakers, cloth makers, and butchers until the 19th century. Only the first floor contained rooms for municipal purposes, such as the council chamber, the citizens' hall, and the treasury. Today, it is the seat of the mayor; the city council meets in the council chamber, and the citizens' office is located on the ground floor.
After a fire in 1555/56, the building was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. The sundial from 1637, featuring the two lions of the city's coat of arms and a rocky landscape of the nearby Elbe Sandstone Mountains, was restored in 2001.

Compositionally Challenged Week 17 - Diptychs
There are a pair of ospreys who have nested near Chatfield State Park for several years. The nest is on top of one of those super tall power towers along a busy highway. I guess they like the location. We were driving through Chatfield SP when we saw 2 ospreys flying overhead. I quickly pulled into a parking lot and got several shots. Most of them were too far away to be any good. This diptych is 2 highly cropped shots of one of the ospreys. I never got any shots with both of them in the frame. You can see in the bottom frame that this bird is wearing a band! : )
