Oil on canvas, 24" x 36"--this new one to be included in our local Bancroft and Area Studio Tour scheduled for the last two weekends in September.
The abstract from the real--just finished: mesmering reference image shot while I was canoing in the lake in front of my property last summer in the country near Bancroft--and used to paint: 'Lake Surface Abstraction', oil on canvas, 20" x 30". And, yes, it drove me nuts getting all that detail resolved--and a lot more time than I usually spend creating a painting of this size. But I am satisfied with the outcome.
A combination of sun glare and a light breeze create a patch of shimmering "sky blue waters" on the surface of Crescent Lake in Berrien County, Michigan.

The surface of Crescent Lake is flat calm this morning, the sun is shining, and the trees on the far side of the lake are still clothed primarily in green.
These reflections on the surface of the lake are proof-positive that the beech-maple forest is finally starting to turn green.

The sun's rays and the lake's surface begin their last, most memorable dance of the evening.
Late evening and dusk. Clouds are mirrored in calm lake surfacer. Capture in ultraviolet (UV), likely with some infrared leakage contaminating the outcome. Who cares anyway? This is not output from a scientific instrument ..... More like my visions of serenity that evening. And in hindsight, a harbinger of the transgender individual I was about to become in the future.
