The French Delage company was famous for their luxury limousines and cabriolets from the top segment.
Besides factory built bodies Delage cars were very popular among various independent coach builders like Letourneur & Marchand, Figoni & Falaschi, Ateliers Henry Chapron and Carrosserie Labourdette.
This body was styled and built on a Delage D8 chassis by Carrosserie Letourneur et Marchand, Neuilly-sur-Seine. This French coachwork company was active from 1905 to 1960.
This Delage D8 Coupé was shown at the 28th 1937 Salon de l'Automobile de Bruxelles for the 1937 Delage model collection (January 9-20, 1937 in Palais du Centenaire, Bruxelles).
This Delage D8 could be D8-100 or D8-120 depending on engine performance.
Note the shape of the slanting back with its central fin. It has some resemblance with the 1934 Tatra T77 designed by Hans Ledwinka, but even more with the later 1947 T600 Tatraplan.
4303 cc 8 cylinder engine.
