1939 DELAGE D6-3 Litres Cabriolet by ClassicsOnTheStreet

1939 DELAGE D6-3 Litres Cabriolet

The French Delage company was famous for their luxury limousines and cabriolets from the top segment.
Besides factory built bodies Delage cars were very popular among various independent coach builders like Letourneur & Marchand, Figoni & Falaschi, Ateliers Henry Chapron and Carrosserie Labourdette.

This Delage cabriolet was available since April 1939 and for sale in two different engine performances called Normale and Olympic.
But I have to admit that all my given info is the best possible assumption while it's hard to find exact documentation about these cars. Several different sources don't match in dates and other info.

2988 cc 6 cylinder engine.
Production Delage D6-3 Litres: Spring 1939-1940/April 1946-1954.

Besides factory built bodies Delage cars were very popular among various independent coach builders like Letourneur & Marchand, Figoni & Falaschi, Ateliers Henry Chapron and Carrosserie Labourdette.

This body was styled and built on a Delage D8 chassis by Carrosserie Letourneur et Marchand, Neuilly-sur-Seine. This French coachwork company was active from 1905 to 1960.
This Delage D8 Coupé was shown at the 28th 1937 Salon de l'Automobile de Bruxelles for the 1937 Delage model collection (January 9-20, 1937 in Palais du Centenaire, Bruxelles).
This Delage D8 could be D8-100 or D8-120 depending on engine performance.
Note the shape of the slanting back with its central fin. It has some resemblance with the 1934 Tatra T77 designed by Hans Ledwinka, but even more with the later 1947 T600 Tatraplan.

1934-1940 IMPÉRIA TA7B Découvrable by ClassicsOnTheStreet

© ClassicsOnTheStreet, all rights reserved.

1934-1940 IMPÉRIA TA7B Découvrable

This Impéria two-door drophead coach was built just after Impéria had taken over the other great Belgium car maker Minerva. The TA7 Series was based on the 1934-1941 Adler Trumpf Junior 6 HP, a very successful German mid-size car which was designed by Hans-Georg Röhr. The TA7B had an all-steel body with front wheel traction, like the Trumpf Junior, which was quite modern at the time. It was in fact a rebadged Adler.
This car was part of the Mahy collection and was offered at an auction in 2018. It was sold for 3600 EUR.

The Imperia we propose is a two-door drophead with a 6 HP engine.

995 cc.
820 kg.
Production Impéria TA7 Series: 1934-1940.
No valid registration papers anymore.

Original photographer, place and date unknown. This car was probably photographed on location somewhere in the old textile factories in Leuze-en-Hainaut where the Mahy collection is housed.

1929 MINERVA M-8 40 CV Limousine

This two-tone Minerva M-8 was presented on Le Salon de Paris 1929 (Paris car salon).
Note the radiator ornament: the head of Minerva.

Minerva Motors was founded in 1904 in Antwerpen when bicycle manufacturer Sylvain de Jong decided to built cars. Minerva cars had a good reputation and soon their cars could easily compete with the top of European automobile brands like Rolls Royce, Hispano-Suiza or Bentley as it comes to reliability, quality and performance.
This however did not prevent it from financial problems during the economical crisis in the 1930s. In 1934 the company merged with Belgium car maker Imperia but a final closure was unavoidable. The last Minerva Model AP left the factory in 1938.

The elegant ornament at the C-pillar of this light coloured M-8 gives us an impression as if the roof was part of a cabriolet roof cover. Besides I've never seen this type of round beam front bumper.
