Stripes of light by Traveller_40

Stripes of light

Light passing through the rough side of one of my callus smoothing devices.
For the setup, there were three variants, hands hold and other hand camera, light stand with magic arm and last just on the underground to get the light right. With sunshine quite easy.

The brighter parts is the structure from the dark slate below. Sharp and less sharp areas are related to inclination of the callus smoothing devise relative to the underground and the rounded shape of the tool.

'Rosy Garlic' flowerhead

Courtesy of Wikipedia:

Allium roseum, commonly called rosy garlic, is an edible, Old World species of wild garlic. It is native to the Mediterranean region and nearby areas, with a natural range extending from Portugal and Morocco to Turkey and the Palestine region. It is cultivated widely, and has become naturalised in scattered locations in other regions outside its natural range

Allium roseum grows naturally to about 18 inches (46 cm) high in well-drained soils, and in Europe blooms from late spring to early summer.

The inflorescences of A. roseum are umbels. The loose, fragrant florets are about 3 inches (76 mm) long, having six pinkish to lilac tepals.

The smell and flavour of the bulb is powerful enough to drive squirrels and browsing deer away from gardens, where they are planted as ornamental flowers. For this reason, they are suitable as companion plants to tulips and similar species.

Poppylicious

We planted more poppy seeds earlier in Spring and combined with the poppies we usually get in early May, this year's crop is a beautiful sight to behold!

Roll of stickers by Traveller_40

Roll of stickers

For Macro Mondays, theme Sticker. From the description, it was not clear, singular one sticker, or plural more than one sticker. But the gallery provided displayed both variants

As for the light, a torch, filtered by a glas filled with decorative wire balls, this is for the irregular light and soft shadows.

Other then, children’s toys, a roll of stickers, topside the real thing, below the reflection. Focus was on the reflection, in post the upper half darkened with a linear gradient.

As for dimensions, the displayed length of the roll is less than 60 mm

Petal Eclipse

A macro of the petals of a ranunculus flower. I got extra close using an extension tube. I shone the light from my phone onto the flowerhead to get the shadows

Chive flower with intruder

The very pesky teeny weeny white snails are returning to the garden and I caught this one attaching itself to a flowering chive in the herb bed

Jostling for space

A shot of my pot of "rat's tails" cactus which is coming out of its winter slumber and there's lots of jostling for space going on. It reminds me of all those years when I was travelling to work on the London Underground in rush hour! 😊

Flower Bones

I'm not sure why I'm so intrigued by these flower seed heads from last year's flowers, but when you look at them very closely and in this case converted to B&W, this image looks like a X-Ray of sorts.
I don't know. That's what I see here. Maybe I'm high on my own supply...

Anyhow... shot using a Tokina AT-x 90mm f2.5 Macro lens, plus it's AT-X 1:1 Extender and a Canon FD 50mm extension tube to get beyond 1:1 macro magnification.

Textured Joint of magic arm with knob by Traveller_40

Textured Joint of magic arm with knob

For Macro-Mondays theme knob, or Drehgriff or many other meanings. One of them, describing an sometimes outstanding part of the male body I learnt today when my usual weekend search at flickr for inspiration for this week’s theme knob brought up some surprising pictures. So, search for Macro Mondays and a date filter for more relevant photos to this weeks theme.

Other than this, since this is for the group Macro Mondays, object used for photography found in typical photographers home are many times good for a detail photo or close up for Macro Mondays

This is the joint of my magic arm with fixation knob, standing on two magic clamps all by itself. Light from the left, with torch fixated, you won’t guess in a magic clamp, mounted on top of a GorillaPod.

Light was on wide, feathered to reduce the glare. And since the knob and the joint were black, the photo Fuji film simulation Monochrome with a red Filter was applied to remove the colors of the glare.

Last the back side light is from the reflection in knob, nicely modelling the round shapes of the joints balls. As for the size the length of the joint to the end of the knob was measuered with 65 mm, joint diameter 25 mm, knob diameter 35 mm.
