For many years I had wanted to see wild Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) which was once one of the rarest feline species in the world. In recent years numbers have increased due to huge conservation efforts although based on its geographical distribution to date, it's safe to say the species should remain under watchful eye for some time. In May and September last year I flew out to southern Spain in hope of photographing it. There's absolutely no guarantee of sightings even when spending time in regions where reasonable numbers occur, relatively speaking. Needless to say I was thrilled to be rewarded with this shot along with very many other images of this truly magnificent mammal. This photo was taken in September while travelling with Matt Summerville and Sean Vaux
